Wolfgang Kals – Artist

While imbuing his work with his own deeply felt vitality, Wolfgang Kals pays homage to the artist he admires from the past. Its easy to recognize the dynamic power and emotionality Picasso and the psychological insight of fellow-Austrian Oscar Kokoschka in Kals work. From playfull to serious subjects, the swirling lines and dense, intricate textures of the medium create a strong visceral reaction and invite the viewer to reflect.Though he was born in Austria, Kals moved with his parents to East Anglia in England when he was an infant. He graduated from the Norwich Art School and Sheffield Art College in the UK, specializing in oil painting and sculpture. He exhibited at the National Gallery in London and other smaller venues through the UK and Europe before immigrating to North America.Today Wolfgang Kals lives in the Caledon HIlls of Ontario with his wife Tosca and five children.
